Overview of KS2 lessons

Our KS2 lessons are designed to help younger children broaden their communication skills, often because they have had a taster of the language at home, school or language clubs.

Children learning languages at KS2 level will focus on solidifying the foundations of sentence constructions, responding to typical syllabus questions, finding their way around KS2-style activities, familiarising themselves with listening and improving confidence in speaking. Children learning at this stage will follow a textbook so that the basics of the language can be learnt in a structured and educational yet fun way.

Basic grammar and verbs will be covered to provide a sound grounding for youngsters learning for fun and exploration and those who wish to study languages further. Classes focus on solidifying the foundations of understanding, asking and responding to questions.

Resources such as flashcards, photos, maps, music and videos will also be used to engage children. Your children will also get FREE access to our partner language platform LanguageNut.

For pupils opting to study languages further at GCSE, our tutors have a sound knowledge of the requirements of the syllabus.

Most KS2 lessons will follow the following format:

1. Lesson recap – from last week’s class in case there are any follow-up questions
2. Topics – we’ll study a topic covering key vocabulary, useful verbs, model Q&A’s and how best to revise these.
3. Grammar and verbs – we’ll always study these components during every lesson
4. Homework – there will be homework most weeks and students will be given access to the lesson resources, handouts and message board corrections made in class.
