We offer IB (International Baccalaureate) tuition in three languages: French, Spanish and English.
Our tuition lessons cater to students who speak English as a first or second language, empowering young learners to develop new communication skills. This prepares them to travel and work abroad independently in the future. A key facet of the IB in Languages programme is developing an internationally-minded outlook, enabling students to understand and relate to people from across the globe.
We follow the IB curriculum and assessment modules closely to deliver the highest standard of learning in engaging tuition classes. Students will develop a comprehensive, working knowledge of grammar and vocabulary in their chosen language.
Our tutors focus on developing students’ understanding of how French, Spanish, or English works by studying the language using carefully selected texts/resources and varied themes. Students will learn to describe situations, articulate thoughts, share opinions and hold engaging conversations.
Students can choose from three course types in each language: Language A, Language B and Ab initio.
Language A tuition lessons
These are designed for native speakers and feature more advanced content. Students will hone their communication skills in French, Spanish, or English through writing, speaking, and listening. Our tutors will help fill knowledge gaps that affect students’ ability to interact with native speakers fluently.
Language B tuition lessons
These are for students with previous experience of the chosen language, and may have studied it for a number of years already. The advanced difficulty of Language B courses requires students to demonstrate strong speaking and listening comprehension skills in their chosen language.
Ab initio tuition lessons
These are tailored to those without prior knowledge of the language and are ideal for beginners. Our tutors will introduce students within this category to the fundamentals of French, Spanish, or English, laying a foundation for more advanced learning. We understand how difficult embracing a new language can be so work hard to make our classes are welcoming for total peace of mind.
Our specialist IB tutors have an in-depth knowledge of the syllabus and create engaging tutorials that help students learn in an exciting, rewarding way. They use IB textbooks, our in-house topical booklets, past exam papers and audio-visual materials and media resources for article. Students will study all core modules of reading, writing, speaking and listening with special emphasis placed on grammar, verb tenses and vocabulary.
Our IB exam tutors have a sound knowledge of the module guidelines and grade boundaries. We have an extensive library of past examination papers, mark schemes, transcripts, listening exams and assessment resources for students, which can be used well before the run-up to exams to maximise students’ performance. Examinations and assessments are susceptible to changing frameworks and so parents and pupils will have peace of mind that we are up to date with these changes.
We place special emphasis on revising exam techniques so IB students are familiar with the question format for each paper and what is expected from them by the examiners. Our tuition lessons are designed to help students fill in any knowledge gaps, revise and apply proven exam techniques and improve their overall confidence to be exam ready.
Most tutoring lessons will follow the following format:
1. Lesson recap – from last week’s class in case there are any follow-up questions
2. IB syllabus topic work – we’ll study a topic on the syllabus covering key vocabulary, useful verbs, model Q&A’s and how best to revise these.
3. Grammar and verbs – we’ll always study these components during every lesson
4. Past exam paper practice – we’ll study past IB papers and exam techniques to consolidate revision strategies and maximise grades
5. Film and literature studies - revising character analysis, themes and critical thinking for essay writing practice
6. Homework – there will be homework most weeks and students will be given access to the lesson resources, handouts and message board corrections made in class.
