Who are these classes suitable for?

We teach French to children from 5 years upwards. Most children are taught on a 1:1 basis although we do also have pupils who learn with siblings or friends. Classes are interactive, engaging and fun, taught in a safe, relaxed environment.

These classes are suitable for younger children who are curious about French and would like an introduction to language learning. They’re also a great option for children who might already speak a little French from learning at schools, clubs or at home and wish to explore further. At this level, classes are fun, engaging and educational and a great stepping stone for students who are considering taking French as an option in school or as an extra subject.

All of our tutors are DBS qualified and have experience of teaching children at this level. Please see our child protection policy for more information.

What will children study?

Children learning at this stage will use resources such as flashcards, photos, maps, songs, videos and worksheets so classes are engaging, fun and educational. Basic grammar, verbs and tenses will be covered to provide a sound grounding both for students who wish to study French further and those that are also just learning for fun and exploring the language.

We’ll look at covering topics such as numbers, colours, age, family, school, sports, food and drink, free time, going on holiday and so forth. We also incorporate French  culture into our lessons, such as traditional cultures and customs, regional foods, schools, travelling and the different regions of French-speaking countries. Students will learn and celebrate French and international holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Halloween and festivals.

When and where are classes?

Our offices are based in London and Cardiff and upon request and depending on availability, we can arrange classes in our modern classrooms. Classes can also be arranged in student’s homes, offices and locally in libraries/coffee shops if you prefer.

Most students are taught online via Zoom, Skype and Google Hangouts which offer whiteboard tools, chat, smart messaging, screen sharing, multimedia files and lesson video recording.

Our tutors offer flexible time slots in the daytime, evenings and weekends. Most students book a fixed weekly slot but you can book on an ad-hoc basis too. You can have as many classes per week as you like and pause when you need to.
